Texlaxed? What is that??
Using a relaxer to briefly loosen the curl pattern of your hair. This involves applying the relaxer to my new growth ONLY and letting it sit for no longer than about 5 minutes.
The time will vary depending on how well your hair takes the relaxer.
But, why?
I decided to start texlaxing my hair because I have very fine hair. I have noticed that bone-straight hair gives me more of a moppy-look which does not flatter my round face at all.
I also like the texture of a more loosen curl pattern, because...well...I LOVE curls!
My texlaxed hair has much more volume, less prone to breakage, and makes braidouts look even better!
I have just love the way my hair looks and feels when it is texlaxed as opposed to bone straight.
So why Texlaxed and not Natural?
I am not ready to go completely natural (One day....maybe).
I love natural hair, I like my natural hair - or at least I like the way my new growth feels- but at this point in life, I am concentrating on growing out healthy texlaxed hair.
I feel like I get the best of both worlds being texlaxed:
- I dont have to go through as much trouble when detangling my hair
- I get to enjoy some texture and volume
- I can easily mimick natural styles
- I can straighten my hair easily as well
- I love not knowing how long my hair is due to shrinkage until I actually straighten it

My Regimen
This will be my regimen that I have fallen into the last few months!
Background:
I have 4 a/b hair.
About a 1/4 of my hair is texlaxed (From the roots).
I plan to be fully texlaxed soon.. YAY!
The rest is relaxed bone straight.
Care Routine:
Shampoo 1/week
Deep Condition 2/month (biweekly)
CoWash 1/week
Moisturize, seal, and braid nightly
Texlax roots ever 12 weeks
On nights that I shampoo, I shampoo, apply a moisturing conditioner and let it sit for a few minutes while in the shower doing showerly things, finger detangle lightly to remove knots, tangles, and shed hairs, rinse, let hair air dry using the t-shirt method, apply leavins, apply moisturizer, apply oil mixture, divide hair into four sections (left, right, top, bottom) and corn-row, pin up hangtime, put on scarf!
On nights that I cowash, I jump in the shower, wet my hair, grab my favorite quickie conditioner and let it sit for a few minutes while in the shower doing showerly things, finger detangle lightly to remove knots, tangles, and shed hairs, rinse, let hair air dry using the t-shirt method, apply leavins, apply moisturizer, apply oil mixture, divide hair into four sections (left, right, top, bottom) and corn-row, pin up hangtime, put on scarf!
On nights that I DC, I usually shampoo first- jump in the shower, wet my hair, quickly shampoo, jump ut the shower, apply my favorite DC, put a shower cap over my head, sit under my hooded dryer for about 30 minutes, jump back into the shower, rinse, grab my favorite quickie conditioner and let it sit for a few minutes while in the shower doing showerly things, finger detangle lightly to remove knots, tangles, and shed hairs, rinse, let hair air dry using the t-shirt method, apply leavins, apply moisturizer, apply oil mixture, divide hair into four sections (left, right, top, bottom) and corn-row, pin up hangtime, put on scarf!
AND... On all other nights I usually lightly detangle with a wide tooth comb, apply moisturizer and oil mixture, divide hair into two sections (left, right) and corn row, pin up hangtime, and put on scarf!

New Beginnings
This is the beginning of something great for me! I have decided to blog about my hair journey. From NL in September 2008, I have finally breached BSL 3 years later. Yiikes! Sounds like a long time, but in that duration I had to learn how to treat, manage, and properly care for my hair MY own way. I have learned so much in my journey that I am willing to share! You will now see me progress to my ultimate goal of MBL!
